Ten Ways to Get Your Web Site to Generate Leads

Why not take a look at your web site to see if it's doing it's share to generate leads? Here's 10 ideas to get you started:

First 50 People Offer
Make a special offer to the first 50 people to do something. It can be 10 or it can be 100 and the offer can be anything. We have a client that offered a free account in his new system to the first 50 people to request it. You could offer a free bonus, gift sample or white paper.

Coupon or Gift Certificate
Offer a coupon or gift certificate for one of your products or services that can only be delivered via e-mail or snail mail. Set up an auto-responder to send the coupon right away. If you want mailing addresses, offering to physically mail something will get you the address.

Pricing Information
Many web sites – especially business2business sites, have a serious lack of pricing information on their site. Often, this is the most desired information to have on a site. If you feel your pricing needs to be somewhat confidential, or just want to collect qualified leads, make visitors register to see it.

Case Study
Customers love case studies. How will did your product help someone in a similar situation to theirs? You can deliver case studies as a PDF attached to an automatic e-mail, or put them in a password protected area of your site.

White Paper
Similar to case studies, but instead it's a technical guide or discussion on a topic related to your business. These provide useful and desirable material for prospects that are researching a purchase in your industry.

Free Report or Guide
A little more 'hard sell' than the white paper approach, and often used in Business2Consumer situations. Titles of free reports should be very catchy, like “10 things you must know before you buy a house” or, “Top 7 questions you must ask any contractor”

Product Sheet / Sales Sheet / Brochure
You already have printed brochures and sales sheets. Why not make them PDF's and deliver them via e-mail auto-responders, or put them up in a members section of your site that visitors much register for?

Free Gift with Newsletter Sign Up
This has become a personal favourite of mine. Since visitors can be reluctant to sign up for another newsletter, offer an attractive free bonus when you sign up for the newsletter. Free No-Obligation Quote
I know of a designer that has claimed to increase his conversion rate by 67% just by adding a link to a free quote just under the main headline on his site. You can check out an example of this on our home page.

Engagement Device
Create a simple online application/form that delivers an instant response based on your answers to a series of questions. Check out the “Is Solar Right for You?” device on SolarIntegrated.com for a simple example.
